Peavey T 60 Guitar 1980 Tobacco burst with Peavey hard case

This is a vintage 1980 Peavey T 60 guitar in fantastic condition, finished in an unusual "Tobacco burst", and with the extra cost option, when new, of a rosewood fretboard. It's a rare combination. Comes with the original hard case.

There are a few chips in the lacquer around the edge of the guitar which is a shame because it stops the guitar being mint, as everything else is truly excellent. No buckle rash or marks on the back of the body or the neck, the pick up rings are unbroken, the pickguard in great condition and everything works perfectly. The out of phase switch has been replaced at some stage.

Set up with a really nice low action, it will easily cut it against anything more modern or far more expensive.

I particularly like the early T 40's and T 60's and they really are hard to come by now in this condition. This example make a lot of sense as the condition makes it well worth keeping, but you also get a cool looking guitar you could gig with straight out of the case.

The electrics also boast a patented circuit, whereby the 2-humbucking pick-ups can be run in single-coil or twin-coil mode through the tone controls. The volume controls are tone compensated, but the tone controls activate a neat circuit that gradually turns the humbucker (at position zero) into a single coil (at position 10) Combined with a phase switch and a 3-way pick-up selector, means a great many tones can be achieved - making it very versatile indeed.

These early USA made guitars are now recognised as being ground breaking and great value for money. The T 60 was a similar price to Fenders when new, and regularly compared with them in magazines of the time. Fenders now fetch much bigger price tags but the T 60's are widely tipped to become highly collectable over the next few years with prices to match.
