1981 USA Kramer "The Duke" headless bass with original hardcase

This is a very rare and collectable aluminium necked Kramer "The Duke" bass from 1981. These basses featured an aluminium neck (with wood inlays) and an Ebonol fretboard (The same material they make bowling balls from apparently) and Schaller tuners. They were Kramers answer to the Steinberger basses and got very good reviews at the time. (Also, the Kramer uses standard single ball end strings unlike the Steinberger).

Now almost a curiosity, it still plays very well with a low action, and sounds good. Has one volume control and one tone selector and a separate switch which I think is a coil tap.

All original as far as I can tell, this example is in trans red which is rare in itself as most of The Dukes seem to be black or white. The condition is good - has a few small marks on the body and one on the neck, and some of the lacquer has worn away from the metal parts of the neck in places, which is very common on all aluminium necked Kramers, but overall it's very good.

Has the added benefit of the original hardcase (Needs a  new handle fitting which will be done).
